ABOUT ME

In 2015 I created this Blog as a fashion & style guide for women who care about the planet & the people who make their clothes. My fellow conscious consumers & advocates of slow, sustainable fashion.

I have a wealth of knowledge & deep love of fashion, hair styling & Make-Up that also aligns with my passion for protecting the environment. You can rest assured I’ll steer you in the right direction for style with a conscience. Subscribe for updates & read on for a brief back story of how I got here…

From a very young age I was fashion conscious

I also had a natural talent for hairdressing. I tortured my siblings mastering the art of the perfect haircut! There was never any doubt in my mind what I wanted to do.

With a British mum, Grandmother & Great Aunt I grew up listening to exciting stories about life for girls in London during the Blitz. So it was no surprise that as soon as I completed my 4 year hairdressing apprenticeship I threw on a backpack & headed for London!

At the age of just 20, I traveled all over Europe, parts of the Middle East & most of the UK, working briefly in between to finance my journey. I had an amazing time learning about different cultures & meeting all sorts of interesting people. This experience set the tone for my lifelong love of exploring our home, Earth.

After 2 years I returned to Sydney where I completed a professional Make-up Artistry course. Along with my hair styling talent I began working in television & film. It was an exciting time doing Make-up & Hair for channel 7 (among other Companies) Working for many years with some of the industries most talented actors.

When I turned 30 the lure of London was back in my thoughts & it wasn’t long before I packed up my life in Sydney & began a new one in South London.

The bulk of my work became photo shoots & magazine editorials. Once again I enjoyed an exciting career & social life meeting & working with amazing people. Now with the convenience of European travel on my doorstep I enjoyed many trips & adventures.

With a passion for design & architecture as well as fashion I can’t get enough of all things European – France, Spain, Denmark, Germany but especially Italy where I still visit every year to this day!

At 36 I met my future husband & by 38 had given birth to our first baby. I went back to work freelance in TV but soon realised I simply couldn’t leave my baby girl, Kiara.

I made the decision to be a stay at home Mum

Incidentally it’s by far the toughest job I’ve ever had & I’ve picked veg in the Negev desert!

Little did I know at the time, I was closing the book on a massive chapter of my life & beginning a new one!

By 40 my beautiful blue-eyed, baby boy Jasper had come along.

At 43 I had my water baby. Lucia the little mermaid born in a pool. Since then life has been pretty hectic to say the least. However as the years whizzed by, it became obvious I needed to get back out into the world of grown ups.

As the children are all now at school they don’t need me quite so much, well at least for a few hours during the day. For my sanity as much as business, I created this Blog.

Which brings us to why the Blog?

Aka Chapter 3 of my life…

This is where I express my love of fashion alongside my passion for Mother Earth. I come from a long line of trade unionists so advocating for people is intuitive. We’re all connected to one another & nature, what hurts one hurts all which is why it’s so important to know the source of what we buy.

Since 2015 this blog has evolved to include what I learn about the global impact of the climate crisis. As my knowledge grows, I will share with you what I learn so that we can all be activists & reverse climate catastrophe.

In 2018 my Husband and I moved our family of 5 to New Jersey. I became a professional Newborn Baby Photographer for a well established company & continued to work on the Blog.

I just this minute discovered your blog. I am so greatful because Until now I could not find anyone one on the internet who dressed like I do – modestly. I especially love your long sleeve blouses and midi skirts. I have a special request for you. Could you please advise us (your readers) how to put together a wardrobe with a minimum amount of pieces? I had spinal surgery last year and it has taken me a year to heal. Unfortunately, the inactivity has led to my gain in weight. I would like to go back to teach in school but I have nothing that fits. Would you please help me put together an emergency wardrobe with the minimum number of pieces to get the maximum number of combinations? Can it be mostly midi skirts, blouses, and cardigans? Also, it needs to be for summer into fall. I would be so grateful if you could help me, and I am sure that your other readers will appreciate it also. I am a petite plus size with an hourglass shape. I live in the United States. I have tried to purchase clothing second hand and vintage, but cannot find things in my large size. I am five foot three and weigh 235 pounds. Thank you so much in advance for your help. Helene

      Hi Helene,
I’m so glad you got in contact with me, it just so happens I’ve been thinking about writing something very similar. Reading your story has made me decide to do it today! So let me get to work on this & hopefully I’ll publish tomorrow or the following day. I’ll make sure I include links to US sites but if you like the items linked to a UK site remember you can simply click on their country icon (possibly a flag symbol) in the top menu to convert to US$ & shippping. You’ve really inspired me today thank you xx

What an inspiring journey! Your commitment to sustainable fashion and advocacy for conscious consumerism truly shines through. It’s so important for us to be mindful of where our clothing comes from and who makes it. I love that you’re sharing this knowledge with others.

Speaking of ethical fashion, I recently discovered Lusso Leather (https://www.lussoleather.com/), a well-known leather jackets brand based in Canada that prioritizes sustainability and craftsmanship. They offer beautiful pieces while keeping environmental impact in mind, which aligns perfectly with the values you promote on your blog.

Thanks for sharing your story and insights—I can’t wait to read more!
